Senate – Lachlan Dunjey
Dr Lachlan Dunjey has been a medical practitioner for 50 years. He has written numerous papers and articles and lectured extensively on topics of depression, suicide prevention, counselling of the dying and bereaved, child sexual abuse, prevention of infidelity, and coping and growing through stress.
Lachlan has been active in the ethical and moral issues facing our nation since being President of Baptist Churches of WA in 1989/90. These include the defence of marriage and family, abortion, euthanasia – indeed all issues involving the intrinsic value of human life – and freedom of speech.
In 2006 he set up Medicine With Morality, an organization uniting doctors across Australia to lobby members of parliament on life issues including cloning and euthanasia and the right to practice medicine according to conscience.
Lachlan was a candidate in the last 4 elections missing election for an upper house seat in the 2005 state election by just 182 votes.
He is married to Liz celebrating their 47th wedding anniversary this year. They have four adult children and 9 grandchildren.
